The Harz Region Development Corporation - Harz AG - was launched 2003 as a public private partnership consortium. Based on the understanding that regional economic development can only be successful when business and local government interests are jointly taken into account, the Harz AG has been established by major stakeholders from regionally based enterprises and the local government.

The companie's task is to stimulate economic growth and entrepreneurialism as well as to develop new strategies that strengthen the economic conditions of the Harz District by carrying out projects that are mainly assigned to the following areas of economic development: Education and Employment, Innovation and Technology, Tourism and economic promotion of small and medium sized enterprises.
